Contributing to the Action Committee
The Action Committee for Reasonable Real Estate Taxes works for fair
property tax treatment for all New York City taxpayers. Your contributions

others like it.
Letter from Action Committee Chair Martin Karp
Re. Action Committee Voluntary Contributors
Dear CNYC Representative,
Many of our buildings have made voluntary contributions to support the
effort of the Action Committee for Reasonable Real Estate Taxes. While
a small portion of these funds has been used to support ongoing activity,
the bulk of the contributions have been husbanded to support attainment
and passage of reform legislation.
The time for application of the resource many of our buildings have created
has arrived. We have the required funds to secure professional support
activity in New York City and Albany through July (the portion of the
current NY State legislative session). We will be reporting on the specific
nature of both the effort and the objectives in the next two months.
Some buildings have elected not to make this contribution. If your building
has not contributed this year, or does not plan to do so, we ask that
your board reconsider and make the voluntary contribution of $1/apartment.
We believe the opportunity to achieve a successful outcome of the six-year
effort is at hand.
As noted above, we have the funds set aside to support the planned effort
through July. But, additional effort may be necessary in this period or,
as is always possible, the task carries over to the September session
or beyond. As we will be reporting to you, the current proposal consists
of a three-year initial phase, for which the Mayor has included funds
in the NYC Financial Plan and a longer-term reform which will require
additional legislation. The latter activity will require further support
effort.
Thank your for consideration of this request and your past suppose.
Sincerely,
Martin E. Karp, Chair |
